Roman Numerals Lesson – Movie Sequels
Movie Sequels & Roman Numerals
Roman numerals are often used in the titles of movies. The most famous example of this is probably the Star Wars series.
Other films that use Roman numerals in their titles are the V Rocky movies and the III Back to the Future movies.
In recent years this method of naming sequels has fallen out of favor. Movie houses seem to prefer adding a dramatic catch phase.
e.g. X-Men: Days of Future Past, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, etc.
NB The VII Harry Potter films would have been perfect to use Roman numerals with but the authors chose to use a description based title. I wonder why?
